Something Old and Something New

Love a good piece of vintage?

What are the usual suspect conditions of the average op-shop? Dark, damp stores which smell of mould and despair. Boxes full of unknown items of increasing tattiness. Cobwebs, dust and dirt. Holes and stains. It takes a strong stomach to be a seasoned op-shopper.

Now imagine this... Second hand and new clothing and accessories; quality checked, cleaned and steamed. Garments arranged neatly by colour. Mannequins dressed beautifully in styles reflecting the current fashion trends. A beautiful shop fit out with quirky decorative pieces and stylistic features. One off fashion finds that no one else will have. Labels such as Country Road, Witchery, Cue, Wayne Cooper and Charlie Brown. And where else would you find shelves made out of vintage books?

This is the world of Red Threads.

Red Threads is a new initiative introduced by the Australian Red Cross to break the traditional image of the op-shop, and to turn it into a boutique shopping experience. More than 89% of the staff are volunteer members of the local community, and all of the profits go towards Red Cross initiatives. With celebrities and designers lining up to play a part in the stores, Red Threads is poised to be a certain success!

Guess What?

This one is all mine!!!
